2008-09 Season Highlights
The WSU Women's Rugby team finished out the regular season with an undefeated record (7-0, 6-0 league) and are the Pacific Northwest Rugby Football Union Champions (www.pnrfu.com ). The Cougars entered semi-final playoffs undefeated after winning both games at the Pacific Coast Rugby Football Union (www.pacificcoastrugby.com ) playoffs in Palo Alto, California, taking the Women's Collegiate DII championship title and remaining undefeated (9-0, 8-0 league). At semi-finals in Sanford, Florida, the Cougs defeated LaSalle University and Eastern Carolina University to advance to the finals. The Cougs eventually took third in the nation after being defeated by Shippensburg University.
In order to maintain our competitiveness as a team, and in an effort to promote women’s athletics, we would like to invite any woman interested in participating, to join us for practice, the chance to discover rugby, and to represent the Cougars on the pitch. Our team roster currently boasts 31 girls.
