What is Rugby?
Rugby is the blood on the pitch, the jammed fingers, the broken noses, the Wazzu Ruggers. The names like Mad Dog, Loose, Lover and Cripp. Rugby is odd shaped balls, knee socks, pouring sweat, and eating mud in scrum downs, in rugby we really can be savages, and that's why we wear the WSU Women’s Rugby logo. Rugby is having mud in every crevice of your body, it is knowing we are 15 as 1, and that the try zone is home. Rugby is in the line out, the crash, and the simplicity of Hands. Rugby is in nicknames, tears of joy, pain of defeat, striped collared shirts, and that one shining moment. Rugby is friendlies, Prom Dress Alumni matches, and that pain is progress. Rugby is not being just a team but a family, it is knowing socials are the only true way to lose or win with grace. Rugby is knowing that glory is fleeting, that Zulu's are a blessing, and that the line will always have my back. And above all else, Rugby is in the love of the game. This is what we play. This is what we love. This is Rugby.
“Without violence there is no courage, without mayhem there is no grace, without pain there is no exalted relief in victory.”
